Jury for the photography competition organised by the Official Association of Biologists of the Valencian Community (COBCV)
It has been both a privilege and a huge responsibility to be part of the jury for this fantastic photography competition. I shared this task with Rosa Vázquez, Adrià López-Baucells and Alfonso Lario, a team with whom it has been a pleasure to deliberate.
The awards ceremony took place this Thursday at the COBCV’s official headquarters, in an event hosted by the Dean, Maria Diago Giraldós. In her speech, she highlighted the Association’s ethos: to promote and foster biology, to drive the scientific and technical development of the profession, and to strengthen solidarity and service to society.
In accordance with the competition rules, the jury selected, in addition to the three winning photographs, three runners-up in each of the five categories: microphotography, marine fauna, botany, terrestrial fauna and birds. The overall quality of the entries was exceptionally high, and the deliberations were not without debate.
I would also like to highlight the magnificent exhibition that is now open to the public in the conference hall at the COBCV headquarters. It is an exhibition featuring an exceptional selection of nature photography that is well worth taking the time to enjoy.
I encourage you to go and see it and, of course, to start preparing your best photographs for the next edition of the competition.
